It has always remained unclear to me how / whether Gamecock Road and/or Gamecock Canyon and Old County Roads are "connected to the general road network."
There are lot of gates in the area, satellite / aerial imagery are spotty and it appears it's (very!) private property where public records of roads in the area are difficult to come by.
Any additional (accurate, of course!) information about roads in this area are appreciated. I have tried, but I do "turn around" when "No Trespassing" or "Private Property" signs (and/or) gates must be respected.
I recommend checking out this area again. A lot of the roads and streams have been recently updated in the nearby area. The satellite imagery isn't that great with all of these trees. The streetside view does help a bit, but that only helps with roads without gates. In order to get under the trees, you need to use the USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) background layer when mapping the roads. It's not perfect, but it helps a lot with finding roads covered by trees and are cut into the hillside or have shoulders. Some roads have been connected. Some unrelated roads have been disconnected after reviewing this data. I recommend using that background layer in the future when you need to resolve similar problematic areas like this one. That USGS 3DEP is a great resource!
